Mukta Kulkarni is a Professor and Dean (Programs) and also serves as the Chairperson of International Affairs at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.
Her research primarily focuses on workplace inclusion of persons with disabilities. She has served as the Mphasis Chair for Digital Accessibility and Inclusion, and as a member of the National Committee on Special Abilities of the Confederation of Indian Industry. She has authored reports for the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, and for the Office of the State Commissioner of Karnataka. She has also been an Honorary Advisor to Enable India, one of India’s largest disability livelihoods organizations, and is a member of the Advisory Committee at Nanagu Shaale, which is developing a model for inclusive education in Karnataka.
Her work has been published in journals including the Academy of Management Journal, Administrative Science Quarterly, Human Relations, Human Resource Management, Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Management Inquiry, Journal of Organizational Behavior, and Organization Studies, among others.
She serves on the editorial boards of Human Relations and the Journal of Organizational Behavior and is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Management Inquiry and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
At the Academy of Management, she has served as Chair of the Carolyn Dexter Award Committee. Within the DEI Division, she has served as co-chair of the junior faculty consortium and the doctoral student consortium, chair of the best student paper award committee and the Saroj Parasuraman Outstanding Publication Award, co-organizer of the doctoral student mentor match and the writing mentoring workshop, and as a representative-at-large.
